Sony Ericsson TM506 - cell phone call quality issues. Is it just me?

My mom bought the Mobilicity Sony Ericsson TM506, and has it on Chatr right now to finish her prepaid credits. Then, she has 3 months of bonus service from Mobilicity. Will she choose WIND afterwards? i don't know yet, but i tried a WIND SIM Card and it works in WIND Home without any problem, so it's possible.

Anyway, when she called me with the Sony TM506, there was a lot of bad noise distorting the call, at least on my end, so it seems. i thought it was my headphones, so i removed those from my Android. But it didn't work, so i had to hang up and call her again. There was no more noise and the call was clear. The noise was happening on my TELUS Android. As for my WIND Huawei U1250, when i received a call from my mom, i could hear her but she couldn't hear me.

What i'd like to know is this: have you had any issues with the TM506, at WIND or with another carrier? i may tell her to keep this phone, or even use it on WIND eventually, but i want to make sure that it is reliable and a quality phone.

Oh, and WIND should get Sony handsets! i may make a separate post about this.

TM506 is one of the best entry-level phones at that price range available due to that it's factory unlocked AWS/GSM. Mob1/Wind/Rogers&Subs all compatible.

However, it's a flimsy device and doesn't hold up like the Huawei U1250. Most of these phones are meant to be disposable and encourage consumer to upgrade to more feature-rich devices. Perfect example are Nokia handsets.
    • How can it be "one of the best" and "flimsy" at the same time? Based on my experience, my parents have Nokia handsets that actually last for month if not years, with some minor problems like audio in one headphone only. i'd expect Sony to be as good or even better. i had a bad experience with the Huawei U7519. The Lightly Loved U1250 i have is all right, but still feels cheap. :(

It's one of the first AWS adopted by Mob1. You can find it for under $50 (same price as Wind's Huawei U1250 (cheapest starter) and it offers better battery life, better voice and it's Factory Unlocked - allowing owners to pop in: Mob1 Wind Rogers Chatr Fido PetroCan 7-Eleven....should I go on?

Yes it's flimsy - most Flip Phones are flimsy compared to Candy Bar phones. I agree that Nokia phones are better but none are sold at $50, right?

Huawei U7519 is worse than junk and quickly removed by Mob1 & Wind. U1250 feels cheap but actually outperforms much more expensive phones.

If you don't like TM506 or U1250 then grab Wind's LG DLite. That's a great phone. Skip Nokia 5230 and C5-04 because they've been replaced. You sound cheap so I doubt you'll drop $ for the C7 or Nokia 500.

You want quality? Pay for it. It's the same whether you're at Wind or Rogers. Try out the Wind's new Amaze 4G - fantastic phone. Or buy a Nexus S / Curve 9360 used on Craigslist and enjoy Wind's true value: decent service and coverage for great prices.
