APN Settings for android.
Access the internet
Name: WIND
APN: internet.windmobile.ca
(Everything else is blank)
MMS APN Settings:
Name: Wind CA MMS
APN: mms.windmobile.ca
MMSC: http://mms.windmobile.ca
MMS Proxy: 74.115.197.70
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 302
MNC: 490
APN type: mms
APN Protocol: IPv4 (Some varients will have this setting)
The MCC and MNC should already be set as default as the MCC 302 defines the phone is a Canadian number and MNC: 490 defines the phone should connect to the WIND network whenever possible and if not it is roaming.
All other settings are blank and you will need to create 2 APNs in order to use internet access as well as MMS

I should add onto this, another method used for some fussy Android devices (more specifically, the Nexus S).
First of all, make sure those APN's are set up, and if you're having SMS issues, follow these directions:
Make sure the USB cable is disconnected
In the dialpad enter *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone information
Scroll down to preferred networks
Select "WCDMA only" (also disables roaming with Rogers)
Click on Update
You need to re-enter the SMSC Carrier number. For WIND Mobile Canada, SMSC is 16135009000
Android requires you to enter this info in Hex.
Hex = 07916131059000F0
In the dialpad enter *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone information
Scroll down to SMSC field, enter 07916131059000F0 and done. Then reboot.

Thanks for putting this up Tim, I was actually just about to do the same thing when I saw this. It was helpful in the old forum for people that don't know and bring tmo phones over.

No problem and I am glad more then one person was thinking the same thing as me.

This is what i did
1. dial *#*#4636#*#*
2.Set it to "WCDMA only"
3. Set SMSC to "16135009000 "
4. exited and repeated step 1
5. this time put SMSC as "07916131059000F0"
*note* i did not click update or refresh. Maybe that's the problem>? -
-
Skip step 3 and 4. Click update after 5.

I put it the other way. internet.windmobile.ca (with all the extras) and then another with mms.windmobile.ca (with some changes extras) that for some reason only started working after I came back from vacation in Anguilla... what ever that had to do with the conversation, I don't know. Just felt like saying it.

Would this work with a motorola charm as well?
I used your advice Bloodflame, but everytime I restart the phone the settings revert back to GSM auto and the SMSC clears and can only access wind away... any advice? -
-
Out of curiosity, if you've got a phone that only allows the selection of one APN at a time, is there a way to consolidate the MMS and Internet options?
-
Only one way to be sure is to try it out and let us know

It will work on ANY android device, I have also seen the internet work on data sticks using the same apn as well as WMP7 but that only allows the internet apn to be entered so no mms

Everyone ... try adding a + sign in front of the number imputed into the SMSC field.
So try this: +16135009000
Worked for me on my N1 -

@Richard - Here are the settings from my MyTouch 4G.
These work perfectly: http://community.windmobile.ca/windmo... -

Anyone had trouble with MMS lately?
My APN worked fine for months, now it fails to send or receive MMS.
Last one was successfully sent on the 7th, hadn't tried until yesterday, so don't know when it broke.-
Ya it still doesnt work for me

I dont know what it is but its says message sent but who im sending it to does get it

Tim, thank you for posting the APN data. I was chatting with Wind support; they actually didn't have all this info when I ask them. :)
Btw, I tried to create an Internet+MMS APN, but my Samsung Exhibit 4G didn't like it....2 separate APN's worked as expected!-
Yep, it seems they've done something to kill the combo APN.
It worked fine for nearly a year.. then just stopped working in July :(
It sucks to have two though, as it disconnects the internet to send/receive MMS and then reconnects. Interrupts whatever you're doing. -

Guys,
Nexus S, bought from a different carrier.
I followed the settings and thing works perfect except one problem.
Every time I reboot, the phone goes to No service until I go and search for wireless network.
Once I select the network it goes to Windhome and will stick to it, why it does not do it on its own?
Thanks, -
-
Had this problem with Panache and Wind SIM. Did a shutdown, removed and reinserted SIM and solved the problem.
-
-
thanks for the reply but so far that did not help unless I need to do it more than once.
-

Assuming you phone is fully unlocked; try to set you phone's network selection on "Manual Network Selection" not "Automatic". Do a scan, find the Wind or Wind home network, then select it. Also, make sure you have 2 separate APN's if you wan MMS and Internet.
-
-
Thanks for the quick respond,
I have done the APN as suggested and everything seems to be in order.
but
1- How do I switch it to Manual Network Selection?
2- It looks like the phone is attached some how to Mobilicity, where I bought it from, how do I break this attachment? -
-
NP.
uhha. Mobilicity. FYI, you can generally buy similar phones from US for much less moola than you'd pay here off Ebay or T-Mobile.
Then, you'd want to unlock it. I've used these guys who seem to be very reliable: cellunlocker.net.
Now, I think the Manual network selection is under your Wireless menu...you'd want to select manual, do a scan, then select Wind. -

"In the dialpad enter *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone information
Scroll down to preferred networks
Select "WCDMA only" (also disables roaming with Rogers)
Click on Update "
Can somebody post what was the default here? I cannot roam and the phone does not latch to WindHome by itself.- view 1 more comment

Thanks Tim. I bought an unlocked Motorola Charm and this was the only place I found the settings for getting my GPRS working with my Data.
Awesome!

I have a Motorola XT720, and I upgraded to Froyo Via Dexters Rom
I was having an issue where I would get a popup error message:
"currently unable to send your message. It will be sent when the service becomes available."
I was able to use Tim's APN Settings to fix the issue. Thanks Tim -

Hey
I have the htc amaze from t mobile and for some reason my MMS doesn't work on it. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions that may fix this problem -

This is what i did as per WIND TECH SUPPORT as my text messages are not being received by other wind users. it's an intermittent problem. But happens daily.
1. dial *#*#4636#*#*
2.Set it to "WCDMA only"
3. Set SMSC to "16135009000 "
4. refresh - delete number above
5. this time put SMSC as "07916131059000F0"
6. update.
However, I keep getting a "code error" in the SMSC box. Spoke to the tech for 20 min then he called me back 15 min later. it again showed "code error in the SMSC box.
Any ideas?
I am using the LG optimus 2x - 2.2.2 android version. -

set APN type to default.supl for the data apn, and mms for the mms apn.
If you are running ICS 4.0.3 for Nexus S, mms does not work. -
